Orientation for staffers

THIMI: Madhyapur Thimi municipality organised an orientation programme for the staffers of users groups involved in development and construction works in the municipality. The municipality is running 23 different projects with the view to preserving and developing cultural heritage in the municipality, organisers said. Rajendra Pradhananga of GTZ said his organisation was committed to do what it could to develop the city as the centre of cultural and archaeological importance. Left Front calls for talks

KATHMANDU: Two-day central committee meeting of the United Left Front Nepal that concluded here on Monday has demanded the government to create conducive environment for peace talks by unilaterally declaring a ceasefire and withdrawing the terrorist tag and red corner notices slapped on the Maoists. Likewise, the meeting strongly demanded the Maoists to show concern and reliable promptness for resolving the crises through peace talks, said a press statement issued by the party. — RSS

975 benefit from camp

BHAKTAPUR: Sarbang Hospital Kathmandu and Mandev Youth Club Changunarayan in Bhaktapur jointly organised a day-long free health camp in Changunarayan VDC on Sunday. Some 975 patients with dental and eye problems benefited from the health camp, said the chairman of Mandev Club Rosan Kumar Paudel. Free medicine was also distributed to the patients who attended the camp. — RSS
