Eye donors honoured

KATHMANDU: Over two dozen artists participated in a two-day workshop that concluded here on Tuesday to honour the eye donors. The workshop was organised to promote eye donation. Australian Ambassador Keith Gardner had inspected the arts that were created during the course of the workshop. The amount generated from the sales of the arts would be donated to the eye donation and information centre fund jointly created by the Lions Club of Kathmandu-Pashupatinath, Tilganga Eye Centre and Nepal Eye Bank in 1999. — HNS

Poetry symposium held

KATHMANDU: The Peacezone Research and Study Centre organised a poem competition here on Tuesday to pay tribute to late king Birendra the slain royal family. Various poets, in their poems, emphasised on the need for restoring peace, which would be the best way to pay homage to the late king. About three dozens of students took part in the poem competition entitled "Peacezone Nepal and its importance". Nation poet Madhav Ghimire called all the intellectual of the country to think rationally for the sake of establishing peace in the country. — HNS

SSP awarded Ph D

KATHMANDU: SSP Chuda Bahadur Shrestha has been awarded with Ph D degree by Tribhuvan University. He received the degree for his thesis on Managing Insurgency Through Community Approach in Nepal. Shrestha joined Nepal police in 2010 BS as a police constable. — HNS
