Garbage bins in town

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City and China World Restaurant are to install 100 garbage bins along the road joining the Thapathali Intersection with Soaltee Mod within a week. KMC Mayor Keshav Sthapit inaugurated the project by installing some of the bins in Thapathali on Monday. Robin Man Shrestha, chief, Urban Development Section, said that some 100 iron bins, with commercials of the restaurant, would be installed along the road within a week.

Panel for conservation

KATHMANDU: A general-meeting of Bishalnagar-Handigaun Heritage Society on Monday formed an 11-member executive committee under the chairmanship of Bharat Bahadur KC to to seek support to implement various conservation activities as per the Handigaun master-plan. In this connection the Department of Archaeology is all set to conduct excavate in Handigaun Shadmukha Bhagwati temple area. The excavation is expected to lead to discovery of the main gate of the historic Kailashkut temple. RSS

Award for Tilganga, Dinesh

KATHMANDU: A meeting of Dr Balram joshi Gyan-Bigyan Rastriya Puraskar Pratisthan has decided to confer Dr Balram Joshi Gyan Bigyan National Award to Tilganga Eye Hospital and Dr Joshi Good Teacher Award to Dinesh Raj Pant. The award was provided to Tilganga Eye Hospital for its remarkable contributions in the treatment of eyes in Asia and to Pant for his remarkable contribution in the research, study of history, culture, Sanskrit and astrology.
