Tarun Dal rift widens
KATHMANDU: Binod Kayastha, former president of Tarun Dal, along with 23 members of the Nepali Congress-affiliated youth outfit on Friday demanded the ouster of Mahendra Yadav from the Dal’s top post. Organising a press conference here, the agitators accused Yadav of making biased and unilateral decisions. They said Yadav had disregarded the party’s instruction while removing Bhaktapur and Saptari district chairmen of the Tarun Dal. — HNS
UML cadre thrashed
KATHMANDU: All Nepal Trade Union Association, affiliated with the UCPN-Maoist, on Friday beat up a UML-affiliated GEFONT member for allegedly not joining a Maoist rally. Two members of Nepal Independent Chemical and Iron Worker’s Union — Nawaraj Gautam and Sundar Dahal — were also reportedly thrashed by the Maoist cadres. — HNS
