Aid for flood victims

Kathmandu: Minister for Local Development Purna Kumar Sherma on Saturday handed over Rs 1,770,288 to Dambar Khadka, Purna Prasad Rai and Pasang Sherpa, three Constituent Assembly members from Sankhuwasabha district, for distribution to the flood and landslide victims in the district. Speaking at a function organised here, Minister Sherma underlined the need for joining hands for providing relief to the flood and landslide victims. He assured the government’s assistance to the landslide victims. The amount was collected by the committee for collection of relief assistance for the flood and landslide victims. — RSS

‘Federalism a cure all’

Kathmandu: Newa Daya Guthi, Nepal Mandala organised a national gathering here on Saturday to lobby for establishment of an autonomous state. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Rakam Chemjong said national unity would be maintained and social problems resolved if the state restructuring is carried out on the basis of ethnicity, region and economic status for the upliftment of all the indigenous nationalities, backward classes and marginalized sections. Chairman of Nepal Mandala Narendra Bhakta Hada called for the declaration of the Nepal Mandala Autonomous Region with representation of Newars. — RSS
