Another blast in capital

KATHMANDU: A bomb, which was placed on a branch of a tree in front of Durbar High School,

went off on Sunday morning. According to Inspector Bamdev Gautam of the Metropolitan Police Sector Durbar Marg, the explosion occurred at around 6:45 am without causing any damage as very few people venture out early in the morning. — HNS

Gurung bodies merge

KATHMANDU: Tamu Chhonja Dhin and Gurung National Council formally merged into Tamu National Council on Sunday with an objective of creating political, economic, social, linguistic, cultural and religious awareness among their community. A press statement issued by the council demanded ‘Tamuwan state’ in the federal democratic republic. The council appealed to celebrate Lhosar festival together and proposed to organise the First Tamu Unity Convention by March 13. — HNS

Students’ threat

Kathmandu: Aspiring MBBS students, who appeared in the entrance examinations on December 6, said they would launch a sit-in protest from Monday in front of Shankar Dev Campus if the publication of results were delayed more. According to Himlal Bhandari, convenor of the Entrance Examinees’ Struggle Committee, the committee has already moved the Supreme Court, seeking early publication of the results. The committee has been demanding immediate publication of the results of the entrance examinations held on December 6 for MBBS and other technical subjects under the scholarship programmes.— HNS
