KATHMANDU: BBC World Service is reaching out to audiences across South Asia with the launch of a special English-language news and current affairs programme — broadcast from the region and tailored for the region. A statement issued here on Friday, by the BBC World Service said that from October 20, Evening Report will target audiences in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka — as well as other South Asian audiences. The half-an-hour daily news and information programme will cover key regional developments and the most relevant global stories. In its first week, the programme will feature interviews with key decision makers and political leaders across the region, among them Nepal’s President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, the statement said. — HNS

Flood relief

KATHMANDU: Amadeus, a leading global distribution system and technology provider, on Friday donated Rs 250,000 as flood relief to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. While the organisation contributed Rs 125,000, its sales manager Sangita Das and colleagues contributed the remaining amount. Amadeus has made its presence in Nepal 1996. — HNS
