Pay hike demand

Kathmandu: The Nepal University Teachers’ Association (NUTA) on Thursday submitted a 12-point demand to senior officials of Tribhuvan University and asked the Vice Chancellor to address the demands. The NUTA also warned of protests if the demands were not immediately addressed. The association has demanded, among others, immediate appointment of officials to major posts increase the salary of university teachers on a par with the teachers of university teachers in the South Asia region and infrastructure development of the university and evaluation of the teachers’ performances. — HNS

Sajha award

KATHMANDU: A meeting of Sajha Publication’s board of directors held on Thursday has decided to present this years’ Sajha Award to Hari Adhikari for his anthology entitled Hari Adhikarika Kavita and Dr Rishi Raj Baral for his compilation of critical commentary entitled Sahitya Ra Samaaj. The award carries a purse of Rs 51,000. The meeting also decided to confer Loksahitya Puruskar on Dr Motilal Parajuli, the author of a book entitled Nepalma Prachalit Nritya and Nrityanatika. — RSS
