Cops in custody

Kathmandu: The Department of Prison Management today took two police personnel, who were deployed for security of prisoner Ram Sharan Pant, into custody. Pant, a prisoner of the Dillibazaar jail, had escaped from Bir Hospital on Saturday while police personnel, Ram Bahadur Lamichhane and constable Deepak Lamichhane, were buying a ticket at the hospital counter for treatment of the prisoner’s chest complications. — HNS

Twenty injured

BHAKTAPUR: At least 20 people were injured when a passenger bus tilted after its wheels stuck in a big pothole at Basnet Tole in Gundu VDC in Bhaktapur on Sunday. According to the police, the bus slipped to the pothole because of slippery road. — HNS

6-yr-old plea quashed

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court on Sunday quashed a six-year-old petition that demanded the reinstatement of the House of Representatives. A 13-member bench headed by Chief Justice Kedar Prasad Giri quashed the petition. — HNS

Dalit groups demand

KATHMANDU: Representatives of the Lohar and Sonar communities on Friday threatened officials of the National Dalit Commission to include Lohars and Sonars on Dalit list or face consequences. Twenty-odd people arrived at the NDC office and threatened to take physical action against NDC officials and set the NDC office on fire if the two communities were not included on the list. The agitating people left after YCL cadres entered the NDC office. — HNS
