Ex-cop nabbed

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Range Lalitpur on Friday arrested former police constable Lwang Syangtan from Patan on the charge of stealing a motorcycle a few months ago. The police said Syangtan was earlier sacked from the police department one-and-a-half years ago for involvement in a series of irregularities. — HNS

KOICA’s support

KATHMANDU: The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on Friday donated office equipment worth Rs 13 million, six vehicles, 10 laptop computers and 50 desktop computers to the government to help enhance the government’s administrative capacity. — HNS

Murder accused held

Kathamandu: Police at Tribhuvan International Airport yesterday caught Hemlal Bishwokarma, who allegedly masterminded the murder of Rajib Govinda Shrestha a year ago. The man was due to fly to New Delhi on a Jet Airways flight. SP Pashupati Upadhyay at the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur said Bishwokarma was a much-sought-after in connection with Shrestha’s murder. Shrestha was shot dead on April 13, 2007. The airport security handed over Bishwokarma to Lalitpur police. The police also said Bishworkarma had kidnapped Primala Pun and was trying to take her to Delhi. “He has confessed to killing Shrestha for a million rupees, which he got from Chakre Milan’s gang,” police said.— HNS
