House panel’s finding
KATHMANDU: The State Affairs Committee of the Parliament on Friday has found that the value of the land that has come under the Nepal Trust 2007 belonging to late king Birendra and his family has been calculated at Rs 2 billion. Member of the committee, Parsuram Meghi Gurung, said that the estimate they have received from Land Revenue offices is, however, preliminary. The panel also discussed performance of the Pashupati Development Trust. — HNS
Japan’s National Day
KATHMANDU: Japanese ambassador to Nepal, Tatsuo Mizuno, on Friday hosted a reception to mark the birthday of Japanese emperor Akihito as well as the National Day of Japan at his official residence. A release said heads of the constitutional bodies, ministers, MPs, and envoys, among others, attended the reception. — HNS
Mishap kills one
MADHYAPUR THIMI: An unidentified pedestrian, 28, died on Friday while receiving treatment at the Bir Hospital. He was hit by a vehicle at Ward no 3 of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, police said. — RSS
