SC vacates stay order

KATHMANDU: Allowing the Nepal Airline Corporation to continue its Boeing repair process, the Supreme Court on Wednesday vacated its stay order that directed the NAC to stop the process of repairing and overhauling of its Boeing 757. A division bench of justices Min Bahadur Rayamajhi and Ram Kumar Prasad Shah issued the order to vacate its November 14 stay order. The bench issued its vacation order responding to the NAC’s petition that sought court order to allow the Boeing repair process. — HNS

Plea to free father

KATHMANDU: Seeking help to find his father, who was abducted by the Jwala Singh-led Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-J), on Friday, Laxman Pokharel alias Arhanish staged a peaceful demonstration at the gate of Singha Durbar on Wednesday. Pokharel, a spiritual teacher and promoter of non-violence and Buddhism, was sitting blindfolded. In a statement, Pokharel said the JTMM-J had abducted his father, who was dedicated to peace and spirituality. “I request all to facilitate the release of my father and let people live in peace,” Pokharel said. The abductors have not sought ransom yet, Pokharel said, adding that his father was an activist of the Jana Morcha Nepal. — HNS

Mahat addresses meet

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat while addressing the First Asian Water Conference organised in Japan said that the role of national and international leadership will help in full utilisation of water and preservation of bio-diversity. According to the Nepali Embassy in Japan, Dr Mahat participated in various discussions in the course of the meeting. — RSS
