Salary details sought
KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Law, Justice and Legislature committee on Tuesday decided to ask the Ministry of Finance to furnish details of salary, renumeration and other facilities enjoyed by the bearers of constitutional posts, which also includes ministers. The committee decided to make this inquiry in connection to the clause-wise discussion of a bill in which the government has proposed Rs 31,800 as monthly salary of CJ plus other allowances, and Rs 25,800 as monthly salary of SC Justices plus other allowances. — HNS
Dahal’s appointment
KATHMANDU: Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has appointed Prof Dr Pesal Dahal to the post of member of Tribhuvan University Service Commission under TU Act (Including Amendment) 2049 BS. Prof Dr Dahal was appointed to the post according to recommendation made by the Committee that was formed under the coordination of Pro-Chancellor and Minister for Education and Sports, Pradip Nepal. — RSS
Envoy meets minister
KATHMANDU: Indian ambassador Shiv Shankar Mukherjee met Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Shyam Sundar Gupta at the latter’s office at Singha Durbar on Tuesday. Matters of bilateral issues were discussed during the meeting, the ministry said. — RSS
Dalits stage protest
Kathmandu: Members of the Dalit community on Tuesday organised a protest programme by demonstrating traditional musical instruments near the southern gate of Singhadurbar. The Dalit Nagarik Andolan (DNA) demanded implementation of the two proposals on declaration of republic and adoption of a fully proportional representation system in the election to constituent assembly, passed by the parliament.The police, meanwhile, prevented the agitators from reaching the southern gate of Singhadurbar. — HNS

Kathmandu: Some 40 temporary employees of the Social Welfare Council, whose term is going to expire by mid-December, on Tuesday demanded permanent recruitment through internal competition. — HNS
