Attack on scribe
KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) on Sunday condemned the attack on Numraj Khanal, the Pyuthan reporter of Kantipur daily, on Saturday night by a group of unidentified persons. Khanal is undergoing treatment now. In a press statement issued on Sunday, the FNJ has also drawn the government’s attention towards the increasing attacks on journalists. Meanwhile, a team from Press Chautari Nepal (PCN) recently visited Susta of Nawalparasi district to observe the area reportedly encroached by Indian security forces, a PCN statement said on Sunday. — HNS
Professors’ charge
Kathmandu: The Kathmandu University Professors’ Association has demanded transparency and order in the university. Issuing a statement on Sunday, the KUPA urged all the member of civil society, teachers, students, parents and other employees to support its cause.The KUPA also blamed the vice chancellor of Kathmandu University for extending his tenure with the support of political leaders and high officials. The association also blamed Dr Sitaram Adhikari and Bhadraman Tuladhar as his accomplices in irregularities, misappropriation of property of the university. —-HNS
Convention held
KATHMANDU: The first convention of the New York chapter of Nepali Public Relations Committee America (NPRCA) has elected a 16-member committee headed by Somnath Ghimire. Among others, former minister Govind Bahadur Shah attended the event, Bansha Lal Tamang, coordinator of the NY chapter convention organising committee, said in a statement on Sunday. — HNS
Function for disabled
KATHMANDU: Nepal Disabled Human Rights Centre organised a programme on convention on disabled people and voluntary protocol 2007 on Sunday, the centre said in a release. It quoted Richard Bennette, chief of the United Nations’ High Commission on Human Rights, Nepal, as saying 118 countries had signed the convention on the disabled people. NC leader Lokesh Dhakal, Maoist leader Keshav Nepal and right activist Charan Prasai asked all to put pressure on the government to endorse the convention. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan University, Office of the Controller of Examinations, on Sunday published the result of the examination for MA (Home Science) first year. The result of the LLB (third year) examination has also been published. — RSS
