Kathmandu: Minister for Education and Sports, Pradip Nepal has said Nepal has been striving hard to achieve the educational goals that are enshrined in the Millennium Development Goals for Education for all. Addressing 34th Session of the General Conference of UNESCO in Paris on Friday, he said Nepal was reviewing overall programmes, policies, strategies and activities in the field of education. “We are planning to launch a comprehensive literacy programme with the support of UNESCO in selected districts of the country for providing primary education to out of school children and school dropouts,” he added. — RSS

NC’s concern

Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress has stated that the cadres of the Young Communist League abducted Hari Prasad Sharma, an active member of the Nepali Congress from Bijeshwari VDC-3, Rukum district, from his home on Tuesday morning and also extorted Rs 38,000 from Jhup Bahadur Giri of Bijeshwari VDC-4 and Rs 7,000 from Kali Bahadur Budhathoki of Kotjahari VDC-5.

In a press release on Tuesday, the Nepali Congress condemned these acts in strongest possible words. — RSS
