S Asian women’s meet

KATHMANDU: A 3-day-long regional meet on ‘Violence Against Women in Politics’ concluded on Thursday and forwarded a redefinition of power politics based on participation, inclusiveness, justice, transparency and democracy. Women leaders, activists and civil society members from the South Asian nations participated in the deliberation of Kathmandu declaration. “We condemn and reject the existing paradigm of power politics,” the declaration states. Bushra Gohar, chairperson of the South Asia Partnership International said patriarchal society is hindering women participation in politics. — HNS
