Sanitation report

Kathmandu: National broadsheet newspapers have provided only the least space for water and sanitation issues, states a report prepared by the Nepal Water for Health (NEWAH), a non-governmental organisation working in the water and sanitation sector. “Nepali print media has not provided sufficient space for water and sanitation issues. Moreover, it has not even found the minimum of spaces and whatever was given, it was only for formal issues,” states the report prepared by Bharat Raj Pokhrel for NEWAH. The report was based on 286 news stories published from January 16 to March 14. — HNS

Chure talks team

Kathmandu: The Chure Bhabar Pradesh Ekata Samaj-Nepal (CBPES-N) today said it has constituted a seven-member talks team to hold dialogue with the government. In a press meet, Keshav Prasad Mainali, chairperson of the CBPES-N, said, “A seven-member team was constituted on Friday to hold talks with the government on the problems faced by people of the Chure-Bhabar region.” He said the talks would be held in two phases. The first phase will focus on the 10-point demand that include equal treatment of the people of the region, among others. The talks team comprises Babu Thapa, Badri Prasad Neupane, Som Bahadur Lama, Partha Mani Bhattarai, Arjun Kumar Chaudhary, Satya Narayan Bharati, and Pinaki Chalise. — HNS
