Solar eclipse

Kathmandu: A partial solar eclipse will be observed from different parts of the world on Monday. The eclipse will start in Kathmandu at 6:30 am and end at 8:17. It will cover 43 per cent of the sun’s surface. The time of the eclipse will slightly vary across Nepal, according to the BP Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory and Science Museum Development Board. Traffic comes to halt

Kathmandu: Traffic at Maitidevi area came to a halt as locals and students of Rai School protested against the killing of 11-year old Ashish Ramauli in an accident at Maitidevi on Thursday, police said. “A minibus (Ba 1 Kha 559) knocked a child to death at Maitidevi chowk yesterday evening and the students of Rai School, where the child studied, and locals burnt tyres on the road and blocked traffic in the area demanding compensation to the victim’s family and stern action against the mini-bus driver.” — HNS
