Interim statute lauded
KATHMANDU: The National Federation of Chetteri Society (NFCS) on Thursday welcomed the interim legislature formed under the Interim Constitution 2063. Issuing a statement, the NFCS said the interim constitution 2063 has opened an avenue for the construction of new Nepal by ensuring political, cultural, social and economic freedom for the people. It has also appealed to the agitating Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha not to resort to insurgency. — HNS
Quake Safety Day
KATHMANDU: Programmes were organised on the conclusion of ninth Earthquake Safety Day-2007 on Thursday. The theme of this year’s earthquake safety day was “Let’s reduce earthquake risk with active involvement of informed and energetic youth”. The Nepal Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal and the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction organised a special demonstration on ‘How does earthquake destroy buildings?’ on Thursday. Narayan Prasad Silwal, Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Works said people should construct houses according to government’s National Building Code. — HNS
LMC staffers’ concern
LALITPUR: Employees of the Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City (LMC) on Thursday asked the administration to hire employees without bias in a transparent manner. The LMC will hire over 200 staffers, who had been working temporarily on contract-basis. LMC Employees Unit has condemned the LMC for the procedure to make temporary employees permanent. “We condemn the process of hiring. Everyone should be treated equally,” said Pawan Lal Shrivastav, secretary of the Employees’ Unit. — HNS
