Psychiatrists’ meet
KATHMANDU: The second international conference of the SAARC Psychiatrists’ Federation is to be held in Kathmandu from November 17 to 20, said a statement issued by the federation on Monday. Social conflict and mental health will be the agendas for the conference. The participants will also discuss potential ways to minimise the risk and rehabilitation of such patients. Experts from SAARC, America, Europe and Australia will participate in the conference. Professor Dr Juan E Mazzich, president of the World Psychiatric Association, is coming to Nepal to take part in the conference. — HNS
New passes for scribes
KATHMANDU: The Parliament Secretariat is to issue new press passes to journalists to report proceedings in interim parliament sessions. According to the Information and Public Relation Branch of the Secretariat, new passes will be prepared after a meeting of the interim parliament. — RSS
Interaction on satire
KATHMANDU: An interaction on Kaushalka Parihas, a satire written by Dharmendra Bihwal, concluded here. At the programme organised by the Nagarjun Literary Academy, litterateur Narayan Dhakal said creators are lagging behind in writing satires. Journalist Kapil Kafle said the writers should free themselves from prejudice. Academy’s life-member Sushila Pradhananga, chairman Prakash Silwal, Kiran Pokhrel, Dhirendra Premarshi, Madhav Nirdosh, Geeta Mainali and Karan Dhakal spoke on the occasion. — RSS
