Rana in Sydney

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Pashupati SJB Rana, on Friday reached Sydney to participate in the three-day Asia-Pacific Regional Conference organised by the International Democratic Union (IDU), party spokesperson said. According to RPP spokesperson Parsuram Khapung, the RPP is the only political party of Nepal to become a member of IDU. — HNS

Muktinath fest held

KATHMANDU: The 10th Muktinath Festival, organised with objectives to publicise importance of the famous holy place and to promote religious tourism concluded recently. The festival is being organised every year from 2054 BS with the initiation of head priest of the Muktinath Temple, Swami Kamalnaynacharya. The festival begins on Ghatasthapana of Dashain and ends on Mahanawami. This year a procession led by Swami Kamalnayanacharya left Galeshwor of Myagdi on September 18 and reached to Muktinath after five-day walk. The festival includes Shrimadbhagbat Puran and 18 Puranas with Hawan. Swami distributed the prasad in Bhairahawa, Hetaunda, Nawalparasi and Chitawan on Thursday. — RSS

Death mourned

KATHMANDU: Minister of State for Information and Communication, Dilendra Prasad Badu has expressed his deep grief over the death of active party worker of the Nepali Congress, Dasarath Bista, a resident of Khichaupata VDC in Darchula. Bista expired on October 3. In a message of condolence, Minister Badu has described Bista’s death as irreparable loss to Darchula district. He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members while wishing for an eternal peace to the departed soul. — RSS

Memo handed over

KATHMANDU: The United British Gurkhas Ex-Servicemen’s Association Nepal (UBGEAN) on Friday handed a memorandum to the British Embassy in Nepal demanding unconditional acquisition of Indefinite Leave to Entry (ILE) of all Gurkha servicemen and their family members. In a statement issued on Friday, the association has threatened to stage protests if its demands are not met within 10 days. The UBGEAN demanded that all eligible candidates be allowed to apply for the ILE at convenient time. The last date for submitting applications is October 24. — HNS

Rai’s role lauded

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (United Marxist) has expressed its heartfelt condolence over the demise of veteran leader of the political movement of 2007 B.S., Shreepal Rai. The party also paid homage to him. The party also extended its deep condolences to all friends as well as the bereaved family members while lauding his contributions in democratic movements. — RSS

Film on Karnali

KATHMANDU: Nepali documentary film Sa Karnali through Dolpa’ was to be released on Friday at Kumari Cinema hall. Made by the makers of Bhedako Oon Jasto — Kiran Krishna Shrestha, the film will take the viewers for a trip to Dolpa a remote district of Nepal situated in the Karnali. Kiran’s camera this time is following a music video team shooting a Nepathya song (Sa Karnali) in Dolpa. The 52 minute documentary starts at Nepalgunj airport and travels via Juphal, Dunai, Suligad before reaching the pristine Se Phoksundo Lake. This time too Kiran’s documentary has a row of star casts including among others music video maker Bhusan Dahal, Nepathya singer Amrit Gurung and Thinle of Caravan fame. “Some part of Dolpa culture, lifestyle, the mind blowing landscape and the art of music video making all incorporate the content of this film and the audience will enjoy every bit of it “ said Kiran Krishna Shrestha, in a press release issued here on Thursday by nepa~laya, the producers of the film. —RSS
