Two theft cases reported

Kathmandu: Two complaints of theft were registered at the Kathmandu District Police Office this morning. According to the police, the incidents took place last night. A group of unidentified persons stole Rs 20,000, two tolas of gold and one mobile set from the house of Radheshyam Karki at Dhankhamul on Sunday.

At Kalopul, property worth Rs 70,000 was stolen from the house of Alok Thapa Magar on Sunday night. Police said the thieves entered into the house from the main gate and made away with Rs 10,000, three tolas of gold and other valuables.

Meanwhile, property worth Rs 382,000 was stolen from the house of Durga Thapa at Mahankal on Sunday morning. The police said unidentified persons took away Rs 25,000, 15 tolas of gold, a cassette player, a camera and a mobile set from the house.

In yet another incident, Rs 60,000, seven tolas of gold jewellery and other valuables were stolen from the house of Ramkrishna Budhathoki at Tamsipakha, Kathmandu. —HNS

9 ‘thieves’ held

Kathmandu: A police team from the Bouddha Ward Police Office arrested nine persons on charges of picking pockets in different parts of Kathmandu in the last 24 hours. According to the police they were arrested from Chabahil and Jorpati areas on Monday morning and Sunday evening.

Those arrested include: Ram Adhikari of Chitawan, Shankar Shah of Siraha, Prem Singh of Dhanusha, Subash KC of Morang, Sunil Danuwar of Siraha, Bhakta Bahadur Thakuri of Dolakha, Janak Sodari of Ramechhap, Roshan Rana of Sindhuli and Ramkrishna Shrestha of Jorpati. Police said they seized Rs 83,000 in cash from the alleged pickpockets. —HNS
