Summiteers’ call

KATHMANDU: Everest Summiteers’ Association, in a meeting with Tourism Minister Pradip Gyawali, on Tuesday urged the government to appoint Everest climbers as liaison officers. A delegation, including Wangchu Sherpa, president of the ESA, submitted a memorandum to the minister. The team suggested that the government appoint those who have climbed Everest once and passed the SLC exams or those who are literate and have climbed Everest twice as liaison officers for the world’s highest peak. It also urged the government to name a hill in Nagarkot as Hillary-Tenzing hill. — HNS
