LALITPUR: A delegation of office-bearers of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), in a meeting with Chief Justice Dilip Kumar Paudel on Tuesday, drew the attention of the latter over the delay in finalising the cases of people remanded into custody for a long time. Paudel said the apex court initiate legal proceedings on the matter at the earliest. — RSS

Officiating IGs

Kathmandu: Home secretary Umesh Prasad Mainali, at separate functions held at the Home Ministry on Tuesday, awarded insignia of the Inspector General of the Nepal Police and Inspector General of the Armed Police Force to officiating IGs of the Nepal Police and the APF, Om Bikram Rana and Basudev Oli, respectively. Rana and Oli were promoted to the posts after the government suspended Shyam Bhakta Thapa and Sahabir Thapa, the then IGP and IG of the Nepal Police and the APF. — HNS
