Japanese aid for KMC
Kathmandu: Japanese ambassador to Nepal, Tsutomu Hiraoka, and chief executive officer of KMC, Padma Raj Regmi, on Wednesday signed a grant contract to provide US$ 4,226 to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) office to bring a “waste management compactor” to Kathmandu. The contract was signed and exchanged today for the transportation of solid waste management compactor provided by Matsumoto City to Kathmandu. According to the Embassy of Japan in Nepal, the grant will be utilised for the transportation of the solid waste compactor vehicle provided by Matsumoto City to Kathmandu. Matsumoto city of Japan is the sister city of KMC. Ambassador Hiraoka expressed hope that the project would contribute to addressing the solid waste management issue of KMC. — HNS
IFA-Paris body deal
Kathmandu: Executive Director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) Nishchal N Pandey visited the Centre D’Etudes Diplomatiques Et Strategiques (CDES) in Paris and held talks with Administrative General Prof. Pascal Chaigneau and Secretary General Emmanuel Caulier on Monday to establish collaboration between the two institutions and hold mutually beneficial programmes in both the institutes. They exchanged plaques and publications of the two institutes. The CDES is a prestigious French Institute which conducts, among other things, Ph.D in international relations and diplomacy. It is also is a member of the academic council of the UN system. — HNS
Writers’ conference
KATHMANDU: The fourth Nepal-India Nepali writers conference will be held in Kathmandu from March 24-26. Some 50 writers from Nepal and 12 from India covering various genres will be participating, the BP Koirala Nepal-India Foundation said. Earlier, the conference was held in 1999 in Siliguri, India, in Dhangadhi in 2001 in Nepal and in 2003 in Benarus in India. The conference will be held at the Park Village Resort Budhanilkantha on March 25. — RSS
