Ex-bank official jailed

Kathmandu: The Special Court today sent former assistant manager of the Rastriya Banijya Bank in Doti, Kailash Prasad Shrestha, to jail for proceeding a corruption case against him. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has accused him of amassing Rs 4.4 million. He allegedly withdrew thousands of rupees from customers’ accounts. Government joint attorney Yuba Raj Subedi said he confessed his crime to the CIAA but while recording his statement in the Special Court he denied his involvement in corruption. —HNS

Poetry symposium

LALITPUR: A welcome ceremony for newly appointed Chairman of the Sajha Prakashan and a poetry symposium was organised on Sunday at the Sajha Prakashan jointly by the Sajha and the White Lotus Bookshop Kopundol to mark the International Poetry Day, on March 21. Reciting their poems in the programme were Shailendra Sakar, Tek Bahadur Karki, Shekhar Giri, Gopal Parajuli, Yuyutsu Rd Sharma, Shyam Rimal, Shrawan Mukarung, Bimal Bhaukaji, Rasa, Roshan Neerab, Khimananda Pokhrel, Dhartichandra Yatri, Bala Krishna Adhikari and Dilli Raman Nepal in English and Nepali. Lyricist Biswo Ballav and others welcomed the appointment of Sakar. — RSS
