KATHMANDU: BP Koirala Health Science Academy has published the results of BDS fifth year annual examination. The exam was held in February and March. Twelve of 36 examinees have passed the exam, according to the academy. — RSS
Hindu panel formed
KATHMANDU: A 31-member World Hindu General Conference Main Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers Kirti Nidhi Bista. The committee has been constituted as per the government’s decision for the successful conduct of the general conference and other programmes the World Hindu Federation is going to organise on the occasion of the silver jubilee of its establishment and for the inter-agency coordination and supervision. According to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies is the vice-chairman of the main committee while the president of the WHF and the Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies are the executive president and member-secretary of the Main Committee. — HNS
Govt’s education plan
BHAKTAPUR: The government will provide concession to the institutions running higher secondary schools with a focus on rural areas, Minister for Education and Sports Radha Krishna Mainali said at a programme organised here on Monday by the Higher Secondary Education Council, Sano Thimi. Higher secondary schools are urban-centred and the government is trying to expand them to the villages. Only then the women students of those areas can benefit from higher education. Minister Mainali also disclosed that the government is bringing a policy to establish classes up to Grade 12 at the school level and expand lower secondary level up to Grade eight. Mainali presented Re 500,000 in cash and certificate to the model higher secondary schools of 14 different districts. KATHMANDU: Litterateur Sailendra Sakar has been nominated chairman of the Board of Directors of Sajha Publications Cooperatives Limited for two years, the National Cooperatives Development Board said. — RSS
Bisket preparations
BHAKTAPUR: Preparations are underway in the historic city of Bharatpur to celebrate the famous Bisket festival. In course of preparations for the festival, the chariots of Bhairabanath and Bhadrakali are being made for the occasion. As per the tradition, the chariots are being prepared in front of the five-storied temple of Taumadhi located in ward number 11 of the Bhaktapur municipality. According to Jujubhai Basukala, a local who is in charge of overseeing preparations works of the chariots, the 30-feet high chariot of Bhairabnath in the shape of pagoda and the 15-metre high chariot of Bhairabnath are being made for the festival. While a wheel of seven feet diameter will be made for the chariot of Bhairabnath, the Bhadrakali chariot will have a wheel of four feet diameter, Basukala said. — RSS
