SWC’s call to NGOs
KATHMANDU: The Social Welfare Council has requested all national and international Non-Government Organisations, social workers and interested individuals in the country to put forth their suggestions on formulating a code of conduct for the NGOs and INGOs within seven days, according to a statement issued here on Sunday. It said the SWC is formulating the code of conduct to make the NGOs effective, accountable, credible and disciplined. — HNS
One falls to death
KATHMANDU: Shyamlal Shrestha of Jorpati died after he fell from the roof of his house on Saturday. He fell while he was cleaning the water tank and died while being taken to Nepal Medical College’s Teaching Hospital at Attarkhel. — HNS
2 motorcycles gutted
KATHMANDU: Two motorcycles were completely damaged when a house owned by Himraj Gurung caught fire on Saturday night at Sinamangal. Police rescued Rabi Ranamagar, a boy from Dhading, from the house. Ranamagar was working in a restaurant in the first floor of the house. Locals, police and the fire fighters took the fire under control within half an hour. Two motorcycles belonging to diplomatic missions were damaged in the fire. — HNS
Truck operators’ body
KATHMANDU: Nepal Truck Transport Entrepreneurs Management Committee (NTTEMC) unanimously elected an executive committee at its fifth annual general meeting here on Saturday. Those elected include president Rajendra Kumar Shrestha, vice president Janak Rijal, general secretary Rajendra Bikram Baniya and treasurer Isworman Shrestha. — HNS
New CEDA chief
KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University has appointed Assistant professor, Dr Rameshchandra
Chitrakar as the executive director of the Center for Economic Development and Research (CEDA) for the period of four years. Expert on management and development, Dr Chitrakar has been working in CEDA for the past 15 years. — RSS
