Anti-quake drive

BHAKTAPUR: A rehearsal of anti-quake preparation was performed in Ward No 7 of the Madhyapur Thimi municipality and Ward Nos 7 and 13 of the Bhaktapur municipality under the Kathmandu Valley anti-quake programme. The programme was organised by the Nepal Red Cross Society, Bhaktapur branch, with a view to raising awareness among the locals about ways to minimise casualties caused by quake. — RSS

Stone water spouts

LALITPUR: Only one of the three historic stone water spouts at Alko in Ward No 9 of Lalitpur sub-metropolitan city is running at a time when there is shortage of water in the Valley, according to Buddhacharya Shakya, who has authored a book on stone water spouts of Nepal. Popularly known as Wasa or medicine hity, the spouts have stopped functioning because of lack of maintenance, and the spout premises are covered with waste and garbage,

he said. People come from far and wide to fetch water from Wasa Hity for drinking. — RSS
