Judges’ memo to CA

KATHMANDu: The Judges’ Society, an apex body of judges in the country, on Monday opposed the parliamentary hearing of SC judges prior to their appointment. Submitting recommendation on new constitution to the CA, the society, however, proposed setting up a separate hearing committee comprising senior-most Justice of the Supreme Court, members of the federal parliament, law professors and advocates to conduct the hearing. — HNS

NC meet on March 27

KATHMANDU: Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has set its Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting for March 27 to discuss it’s strategies to be adopted during the winter session of the parliament. NC chief whip Laxman Prasad Ghimire, however, said the election for the leader of the parliamentary party would not be held in the meeting. — HNS

Attack condemned

KATHMANDU: Campaign for Human Rights and Social Transformation (CAHURAST) Nepal, on

Monday condemned the attack carried on its Mugu branch office on Saturday night. “It is regrettable that a team of CPN-UML cadres vandalised the rights body’s office,” said a CAHURAST statement. — HNS

Child kidnapped

KATHMANDU: Prasam Shah, a seven-year-old child was kidnapped while he was returning home from school with his elder sister from Battisputali. A man identifying himself as an ‘operator’ at his father’s office kidnapped him. — HNS
