Ex-minister dies at 84

KATHMANDU: Former minister Shiva Raj Panta died at the age of 84 in New Delhi, India on Saturday. He held the portfolio of the Minister of Forest, Food and Agriculture in the government headed by late BP Koirala. He is survived by two wives and four sons. — RSS

Prize for Pemba

KATHMANDU: This year’s Mt Everest Award is being awarded to fastest climber of Mt Everest Pemba Dorje Sherpa. He had climbed the mountain in 8 hours and 10 minutes setting a world record. The award is being given annually from 2057 BS to commemorate the first ascent of Mt Everst in 1953. — RSS
