Students protest

KATHMANDU: All Nepal National Free Students’ Union affiliated to the CPN-UML on Tuesday took out a torch rally from Jhwabahal to Asanchowk to protest the re-arrest of its former chairman Rajendra Rai from the court premises and against the indiscriminate baton charge by the police on students on May 15. Also on Tuesday, the Free Student Union of the Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus forced closure of the campus to protest Rai’s re-arrest, Balgopal Upadhyay, ANNFSU chairman of the Ratna Rajya Laxmi campus unit said. — HNS

MoU signed

KATHMANDU: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Social Welfare Council and the Leprosy Mission International here on Tuesday for running various health programmes in Nepal. According to the council, the international organisation as per the MoU has set a provision to run programme with minimum annual assistance of Rs 2,50,000. — RSS
