KATHMANDU: An unidentified person on Sunday evening stabbed Sanju Tamang, 25, at New Road. Tamang was working in his video parlour when the man broke into the room and stabbed him. He is undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital. Police are looking for the attacker. — HNS
Man kills self
KATHMANDU: Twenty-six-year-old Suresh Karki killed himself by hanging on a tree behind his house on Sunday. Karki, whose marriage was scheduled for the day, was found hanging on the tree minutes before the wedding procession was ready to leave for the bride’s house, police said. The motive behind the suicide is yet to known. — HNS
Meet on abroad studies

Body found
KATHMANDU: A body of a man of around 26 years of age was found lying on a wheat field at Mahadevtar-8, Kathmandu, on Sunday. Police said the man might have been beaten to death by some hooligans as there were wounds on his head. — HNS
Property stolen
KATHMANDU: Property worth Rs 80,000 was stolen from the house of Kishore Budhathoki at Kapan-3, Kathmandu, on Sunday afternoon. According to the police, family members of the house were away when the incident took place. The thieves made away with Rs 20,000 in cash, camera, TV sets and other valuables from the house. — HNS
Call to preserve languages
KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Buddhi Raj Bajracharya, has called academicians to seriously work for conserving indigenous languages, which are on the verge of extinction. Bajracharya said this while inaugurating a workshop on ‘Uniformity in written Nepali’ jointly organised by the Department of Language and Literature of the Royal Nepal Academy, Child Literature Promotion Centre and Room to Read. — RSS
Hindu body’s call
KATHMANDU: The World Hindu Federation India unit has submitted a memorandum to the Indian president, APJ Abdul Kalam, requesting Indian support for Nepal’s efforts to end terrorism and strengthen democracy. The federation has said restoration of peace in Nepal is in the interest and well-being of India. — RSS
PABSON condemns blast
KATHMANDU: Private and Boarding schools’ Organisation of Nepal (PABSON) has condemned the bomb blast allegedly planted by the Maoists in the Sunshine Boarding Higher Secondary School on Sunday in which property worth about Rs 3.5 million was destroyed. The organisation has demanded that the government pay right compensation to the school. In a statement, the PABSON has appealed to the authorities concerned to put an end to the cycle of violence, blasts and bandhs that have been affecting the education sector. — RSS
