Team Jakarta-bound

KATHMANDU: A Nepali delegation led by foreign secretary Madhu Raman Acharya left here for Indonesia, on Sunday to participate in the Asian-African senior officials’ meeting to be held there from March 30 to 31. The officials’ meeting will prepare the ground for the Asia-Africa summit to be held next month in Indonesia in conjunction with the golden jubilee commemoration of the Bangdung conference in 1955, the ministry of foreign affairs said. — RSS

Kids awarded

KATHMANDU: In its 5th annual general meeting, the Children’s Food Programme-Nepal and Village School-College Students Scholarship Programme-Nepal on Sunday distributed Bal Shree Award, Bal Sikchya Shree Award and Bal Swastha Shree awards to children. Recipients are Subodh Gurung, Asmita Thapa, Buddha Lama, Rabina Lama, Ramesh Bhandari and Samita Khanal. — HNS

New Pak envoy here

KATHMANDU: Pakistan on Sunday sent a new diplomat to Nepal to replace ambassador Zamir Akram who returned to Islamabad earlier this month. New envoy Sohail Amin was received at Tribhuvan International Airport by senior palace and foreign ministry officials. — HNS

Thieves caught

KATHMANDU: A police team of the Valley Crime Investigation branch, Hanumandhoka, on Sunday arrested Munna Waiba and Rana Bahadur Dahal for burglary in various hotels of Kathmandu. — RSS
