Six held with drugs
KATHMANDU: A team from the Narcotic Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit, New Baneshwor, arrested six persons from different parts of the Valley with 734 grams of heroin and 7.5 kg of hashish. Police arrested Madan Kumar, 28, from KMC-14 with 690 grams of heroin. Kumar used to import narcotics from India. He hails from New Delhi, India. Others arrested are Prakash Gurung and Rohit Sherchan of Lalitpur, Sophila Karki of Kathmandu, and Sanukaji Thing and Dev Bahadur Gole from Agara, Makawanpur. Gurung, Sherchan and Karki were arrested with 44 grams of heroin from Teku whereas Thing and Gole were held with 7.5 grams of hashish from Kalimati. Investigations are underway, police said. — HNS
Equipment distributed
KATHMANDU: Rotary Club of Rajdhani distributed solar equipment to 122 families of Nayapati village development committee, east of Kathmandu, recently, stated a press release issued on Wednesday. The equipment consists of solar dryer, composting toilet, water purifier, heat retainer, among others. Two rotary clubs from the US and Rotary International provided a grant of $7,980 for the solar project. Club president, Sarbangya R Tuladhar, and Allen Latenberg of Rotary Club of Los Altos, USA, handed over the equipment to locals. — HNS
