Palpali Sangam’s new body
KATHMANDU: A general assembly of Palpali Sangam, an organisation of Palpalis living in Kathmandu, elected a 15-member executive committee under Dr Chet Bahadur Kunwar’s chairmanship. Ashok Maharjan and Durga Rana are the vice-presidents, Yagya Prasad Sharma the general secretary, Badri Prasad Bhandari and Saroj Nepal secretaries, and Shankar BK the treasurer. Baburam Pandey and Gajadesh Chandra Gautam were elected advisors. Palpa Darpan, an annual publication of the Sangam, was also released then. — HNS
RNA man cremated
KATHMANDU: The last rites of Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) Jamdar Rishiram Dhakal, who died during a UN peace keeping mission in Burundi on March 2, was performed with army honours on Saturday. Earlier Major General Dilip Karki and other RNA officials paid their last tributes to Dhakal at the Birendra Army Hospital. Jamdar Dhakal was a member of the team from Shree Mahindradal Battalion. — RSS
Envoys call on ministers
KATHMANDU: Ambassadors of Mongolia and Switzerland to Nepal, Jantsan Gulgou and Dominique Dreyer, paid separate courtesy calls on Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramesh Nath Pandey at his residence in Bishalnagar on Saturday. Ambassador Dreyer also paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Dan Bahadur Shahi. Matters related to bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest were discussed at the meetings. — RSS
Women’s Day marked
KATHMANDU: The Army Officers’ Wives Association of the Royal Nepalese Army organised a variety cultural programme at the Tribhuwan Army Officers’ Club on Friday to mark the 95th International Women’s Day. Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Durga Shrestha, association officials, senior women activists, wives of martyred armymen and women from various foreign missions attended the show. — RSS
