Mind mgt seminar
KATHMANDU: A two-day mind management seminar got underway on Saturday. Acharya Swami Shree Dhruv is imparting tips on ways to secure physical and mental health which are instrumental in doing away with spiritual ignorance. More than 27 persons are participating in the event which has been organised by the Managing Director of the Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation (RNAC), M P Khanal, said a press release issued by Shristi Sadhana Kendra (SSK). — HNS
AWON supports disabled
Madhyapur Thimi: The advisors to Active Women of Nepal (AWON), Margaret Ross and Lotti Wueise, recently inaugurated the newly-constructed classroom of the Manav Bidhya Griha, a school for mentally retarded children. The classroom for junior students was constructed with financial support from AWON. Speaking at the programme, principal Bishnu Bahadur Shrestha expressed gratitude to AWON on behalf of the school. AWON has also provided cupboards, exhibition boards, benches, carpets, mats and other furnishing materials to the school. Secretary of the Association of Mentally Retarded People of Madhyapur Prem Krishna Prajapati and Madhur Sharma of VONK-Nepal also expressed their views on the occasion. —HNS
Eighteen held for theft
Kathmandu: Police recently arrested 18 persons, including 14 scavengers on charges of stealing from houses at Koteshwor. Police nabbed two scavengers red-handed from Baneshwor. Officials at the Koteshwor area police office said they arrested the gang after a tip-off from Ashta Deola and Raju Ansari, who were arrested at Bagmati bridge while returning with stolen goods. Others arrested are Santosh Kedar and Kundan Abhar of India, Ram Bahadur Kunal, Ramsharan Adhikari and Sanu Karki of Bardiya, Lambu Sarki of Banke, Unanet Deola, Rakhi Deuola, Sami Deula of Saptari, Kale Ansari, Phadil Karki and Pasu Abhar. Hari Bahadur Abhal, DSP at Kathmandu District Police Office, said the gang had a wide area of operation. Meanwhile, police arrested four persons from Kalimati area on charges of stealing helmets from a hotel parking area. They are Hari Dahal of Okhaldhunga, Kanchha Shrestha and Maila Tamang of Sindhuli and Raju Aryal of Dolakha. —HNS
