Teen commits suicide:
KATHMANDU: A teenage girl was found hanging at around 9 a.m. on Thursday, police said. Devi Basnyat, 14, who was living at Maligaon, KMC 5, hanged herself to death. She used work at one Bina Pyakurel’s house and was found hanging in Pyakurel’s meditation room, police said. Basnet, who hailed from Bhuskun of Barhabise Sindhupalchowk, was studying in the seventh grade at the Bal Mandir. — HNS
Test-tube baby facility:
KATHMANDU: Over four dozen couples so far have benefited from the technology of giving birth to baby through the help of the test tubes at Om Nursing Hospital and Research Centre. The test-tube baby technology, which the hospital is carrying out at different phases, has been applied to 14 women at its third batch, it is said. Seventeen women, who adopted the technology during the first phase, are going to give birth to their babies very soon. The hospital is going to apply the technology on 22 childless women in its fourth batch, said the director of the hospital, Dr Bhola Rijal. The work for the fourth batch is scheduled to begin shortly, Dr Rijal said. — RSS
Work on new motorways:
KATHMANDU: Work on opening new motorways at the local Chamati land integration area began on Wednesday as part of the set programme of KMC to construct roads on the river banks, widening narrow streets and dismantling houses and other structures constructed by encroaching public lands within the city. KMC executive officer, Surya Prasad Silwal, formally initiated the work at local Dallu amid a function. The new road will be 23 km long and 8 to 11 metres wide, it is said. — RSS

BHAKTAPUR: Six central office bearers of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Nationalist), issuing a press release, have welcomed the February 1 royal proclamation. Assistant general secretary of the party Jagat Bahadur Gurung and central members Madan Krishna Hada, Hem Bahadur Malla Thakuri, Mohan Prasad Pokharel, Mohamad Ekwal Iraqi and Janak Jangali have said the royal move has opened a new avenue in the country for a prosperous Nepal. — RSS
TU BE results out:
KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering on Thursday published the results of the Bachelor of Engineering first year, second part regular and re-examinations in Electronics Engineering (except for Janakpur college). TU has also published the results of BE Computer Engineering third year, second part regular and re-examinations. — RSS
