MoU signed:

KATHMANDU: Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Programme (TRPAP), Alternative Energy promotion Centre and Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU is aimed at facilitating TRPAP’s pro-environment initiatives through Renewable Energy programme. Tourism ministry joint secretary and also National Programme Director of TRPAP Shankar Prasad Koirala and Dr Madan Bahadur Basnyat, executive director of AEPC, signed the MoU. — HNS

One held for stealing:

Kathmandu: The District Police Office has arrested one Kul Bahadur KC, 21, on charge of stealing sixteen blank liquified gas cylinders. Police said KC stole the cylinders from one Gyan Bahadur Budhathoki’s shop located at Koteshwor. KC was arrested from Balkumari, Lalitpur, with the cylinders, police said. — HNS

5,000 candles lit:

KATHMANDU: The Valley’s Newari organisation, Sinkhswa khala, lit 5,000 candles at the Basantapur Durbar Square on Tuesday welcoming and supporting the February 1 Royal proclamation of takeover of the country’s government. Social worker Ravi Charan Shrestha inaugurated the function. — RSS

Civic office inspected:

KIRTIPUR: A team led by the under-secretary of the Ministry of Local Development Narayan Bahadur Thapa, inspected the Kirtipur municipality office and issued directives to the staff for providing prompt and effective service, and for proper management of garbage. After announcing a nine--point agenda, the municipality has started stern implementation of the same according to government policy. — RSS

Health ministry team:

KATHMANDU: The central monitoring team of the Ministry of health commenced its works from Wednesday in connection with making health laboratories which play a leading role in the diagnosing diseases, systematic and effective. Chief specialist at the ministry of health, Dr Bishnu Prasad Pandit led the central monitoring team. A team comprising director of the national public health laboratory Dr Sarala Malla inspected eight private sector health laboratories, including the Meridian, Health Care, Kohinoor and Om Shahi Laboratories on Wednesday,. Among the laboratories inspected on Wednesday, most were found to be operating within the approved standards.— RSS

KATHMANDU: The TU Institute of Medicine has announced the result of diploma level MBBS, first phase first year, B. Pharma first year and third year, BNHN, BNCN, first and second year regular and re-examinations held in November/December, 2004. — RSS
