Increase investment in youth: Prez
Kathmandu, August 12
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has called for increased investment in youth.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to mark the International Youth Day here today, she also appealed to the government and the private sector to invest more in youths.
“It is the investment in the youths that will ensure economic prosperity, sustainable development and peace,” she said while urging the government to effectively implement the youth policy, strategy and vision.
The president was of the view that youths should be provided with skills, technology and capital as per their abilities so that they can be self-employed. Quality higher education and technical skills will promote professionalism and entrepreneurship among the youths, said the president.
She also called for utilsation of resources in the field of tourism, agriculture and hydrpower to pave the way for the development of the country.
Also speaking at the programme, Minister for Youth and Sports Rajendra Kumar KC said his ministry was committed to promoting entrepreneurship among the youth.
As per the latest census, youths between the ages of 16 and 40 account for almost 40 per cent of the total population of the country.
