Indian envoy stresses on political resolution of Tarai crisis

KATHMANDU: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rea said that the political unrest seen in Tarai after the promulgation of constitution should be resolved politically.

Speaking at an interaction organised at the Reporters' Club in the Capital on Tuesday, he stressed on resolving the problems through dialogues and discussions.

Saying that the problems seen on the Nepal-India border points would not benefit both the countries, the Indian ambassador said that the ongoing turmoil should be ironed out at the earliest to ease supply of essential goods including petroleum products, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti said.

Expressing concern over growing anti-India sentiment in Nepal in the recent days, he said "this will not benefit both the countries."

He expressed his belief that the situation would be normalised if the demands of the agitating parties are addressed.
