Indigenous body opposes 23-point agreement
Kathmandu, December 25:
A body of indigenous people today opposed the 23-point agreement reached by the seven parties on Sunday, claiming that it would deepen the socio-political conflict instead of patching up the existing differences.
“The agreement has violated the directives of the interim parliament on republic and fully proportional election and the spirit of the people’s movement,” said Furnamgel Moktan, vice-president of the All Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities-Unified (ANFIN-U).
In a press release issued today, he said the agreement was nothing but a new political game to share power among the seven parties.
“We demand the seven parties to correct the 23-point pact and adopt a fully proportional electoral system,” the ANFIN-U said.
