KATHMANDU: An infant died after being hit by a microbus in Budhanilakantha Municipality-2 of Kathmandu district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Sugam Khadka, two-year-old son of Tapendra Khadka, a permanent resident of Nele Rural Municipality-5 in Achham district and currently residing in Budhanilkantha.

According to police, the microbus (Ba 2 Kha 2106) struck  Khadka at Milan Chok, critically injuring him.

Khadka was rushed to the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. He, however, breathed his last during the course of treatment, said police.

Investigation into the case is underway while the search is on for the absconding driver.
