KATHMANDU, MAY 9
Kathmandu Valley witnessed a record high daily rise in coronavirus infections with a total of 4,198 new cases on Sunday.
The capital city recorded 3,161 cases, Lalitpur 533, and Bhaktapur 504 cases today.
Today's total cases in the valley account for 47.43 per cent of the nationwide infections reported today. As many as 8,850 intraday cases had surfaced today across the country.
Kathmandu continues as the district with highest number of infections logged in 24 hours. Similarly, Rupandehi is second in line with 562 infections, while Lalitpur stands third.
Total number of active cases in Kathmandu is 27,660 as of today, which in Lalitpur is 6,010, and in Bhaktapur is 3,912. Kathmandu has recorded 144,987 total infections until today. The same in Lalitpur is 24,291 and in Bhaktapur is 14,130.
The valley recorded as many as seven Covid-related fatalities today -- six in Kathmandu, one in Lalitpur. As such, the total number of deaths in Kathmandu till date is 826, that in Lalitpur is 234, and in Bhaktapur is 172.
The country itself recorded 52 Covid-related fatalities today, which totals to 3,720 deaths till date. The Ministry updated the total fatality count with 26 additional deaths, today. The death rate (total deaths by total positive cases) as of today is 0.94 per cent.
As many as 26 districts host active cases above 500 -- Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Dhanusha, Parsa, Mahottari, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Kavrepanlanchowk, Makawanpur, Dhading, Nuwakot, Kaski, Gorkha, Dang, Banke, Rupandehi, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, Surkhet, Kailali, Kanchanur and Baitadi.
Likewise, 19 districts have over 200 active cases. They are Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Siraha, Saptari, Sindhupalchowk, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Nawalparasi (East), Tanahun, Myagdi, Syangja, Nawalparasi (West), Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Dailekh, Dadheldhura, Doti and Achham.
