Int’l meet of psychiatrists kicks off
Kathmandu, November 18:
A three-day Second International Conference of SAARC Level Psychiatric Federation on the theme ‘Social Conflicts and Mental Health: Challenges to Psychiatrists’ began here today. The conference is organised by the SAARC Psychiatric Federation in collaboration with the Psychiatric Association of Nepal, Department of Psychiatric and Mental Health of the Institute of Medicine and the World Psychiatric Association (WPA).
The experts from SAARC countries and World Psychiatric Association are participating in the conference. It is said the discussion will be held on the mental diseases caused by the social strain, conflicts, war and violent events which is being burgeoning in South Asian regions. Even the medicines used for the mental disease and the equipment for the treatment have been exhibited in the conference.
Inaugurating the conference here today, Deputy PM and Minister for Foreign Affairs, KP Sharma Oli said it is the matter of happiness that the conference of the psychiatrists was held here in the context of the people being suffering from mental diseases due to a decade-long insurgency across the nation.
