International meet of arthroscopy society of Nepal begins

Kathmandu, November 8

Doctors discussed ways of examining pain in shoulder, ways to differentiate frozen shoulder, instability, impingement and cuff tear, during the second International Conference of the Arthroscopy Society of Nepal. An inaugural ceremony of the two-day event was organised in the capital today.

With its theme ‘Scope of Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine in Nepal’, the event was organised to exchange ideas on treatment methods of injuries.

A total of 25 doctors from Nepal, six doctors from India and one from the United Kingdom will be sharing their knowledge during the two-day conference. Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure to diagnose and treat joint problems.

The participants shed light on ways to treat fracture, treatment for shoulder dislocation, both first time and repeated dislocations, and other topics on the first day today.

“The purpose of organising this event is to come together and discuss the problems that we face in day-to-day life, as well as to understand the most modern aspects of treatment. This event I hope will increase knowledge and skills of the practicing doctors,” said Dr Shishir Lakhey, president of Arthroscopy Society of Nepal.
