Japan gives Rs 4 millions for Saptari water project

KATHMANDU: Embassy of Japan has provided a grant of US$ 54,876 equivalent to Rs 4 million under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects scheme of the Government of Japan to the Kankalini Multipurpose Service Centre (KMSC) for the implementation of a drinking water project at Lohajara in Saptari.

Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Tatsuo Mizuno and Nunu Devi Jha, chairperson, KMSC signed the grant contract on behalf of their respective governments today. "The grant will be utilised for a full-scale boring, procurement of essential equipment, construction, and installation of one 150-meter-deep tube-well, one water storage tank, 21 public tap stand posts and about seven-kilometre of water distribution pipes in the project area. "Approximately 2,000 people in the area will benefit from the project," the Embassy said in a statement.
