Jayanta Chand of RPP inducted as Commerce Minister

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday inducted the Rastriya Prajatantra Party lawmaker Jayanta Chand in the Cabinet as the Minister for Commerce.

Chand is the son of former Prime Minister and RPP Chairman Lokendra Bahadur Chand.

Prime Minister's Press Advisor Pramod Dahal told THT Online that Chand was appointed the Minister as the RPP was offered two ministries in the power sharing deal earlier.

Deepak Bohara has been working as the Minister for Labour and Employment in the coalition government from the party.

Dahal said there was no any further plan to shuffle of expand the Cabinet immediately.

With the latest appointment, the Cabinet strength reached 41 including the Prime Minister, six Deputy PMs, 22 ministers, 10 state ministers and two assistant ministers.

Meanwhile, Chand took the oath of office and secrecy from the President Bidya Devi Bhandari today itself.

Chand was elected the lawmaker under the proportional representation system.
