Judge resigns
KATHMANDU: A district court judge today tendered his resignation to the Judicial Council (JC), one-and-a-half months after the JC decided not to promote him.
Nawalparasi District Court Judge Karuna Nidhi Sharma resigned from his post when the Chief Justice-led panel did not recommend his promotion but appointed his juniors as Appellate Court judges. "Sharma told me that he does not want to work in the same post after 25 years of service," Jivan Hari Adhikary, Secretary, Judicial Council, told this daily. "He did not care to wait for four months for compulsory retirement," he added. On September 6, the Min Bahadur Rayamajhi-led panel appointed 74 district and appellate court judges. Those to have not been recongnised for their seniority have expressed their dissatisfaction.
