Kamal Thapa's demand for split vote on federalism rejected
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa demanded split vote on federalism. The request, however, was rejected.
Thapa, among other leaders, had registered amendment proposals on Article 56 of the Constitution Bill, demanding that the provision of federalism be scrapped.
But, the voice voting had rejected Thapa's proposal.
Thapa, however, demanded with the CA Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang that a split vote be conducted to decide on the issue.
Upon the request, Nembang asked lawmakers to stand up if they support Thapa's request for the split voting. Subsequently, as many as 25 lawmakers had stood in the support.
As the CA Rules requires 61 lawmakers in support to begin the split voting, the request was rejected.
Earlier, Thapa had demanded split vote on secularism, but was rejected.
